INSPIRING NATURE...

Nature has always been full of inspirational images, to transform and reproduce under different aspects.

The muse of abstract thoughts, within its melancholic and enigmatic atmospheres, always ready to be an influential presence for any form of Art.

Nature is also present within my work, in order to create, to celebrate and to emphasize the importance of its own relationship with the Human Being.

"The figure of an invented Artist"

Who is an Artist? This is the question I asked to myself to have an initial idea of which direction to undertake within this project. Therefore I decided that the aim of this assignment is to emphasize the meaning of the word 'Artist', within its different aspects.

The fictional character Justin Liver is born in London in 1931. At
the age of 24 he believes himself to be an abstract painter, who also uses photography. Being completely self taught, he considers himself an outsider, a bohemian, who has talent, but lack of knowledge of the rules of art.

How important is it to be culturally educated and trained as an artist? Justin Liver represents the romantic figure of the 'artist anti academic', whose untraditional and marginalized lifestyle, caused also by his social status, represent an obstacle for his possibilities of being an Artist within the social context.

Artistic Influences

Mark Rothko
(25 September, 1903 - 25 February, 1970)

... With his blurred blocks characterized by rigorous attention to formal elements such as color, shape, balance, depth, composition and scale, Rothko created a new form of abstract painting.
Anselm Kiefer
(8 March, 1945 - )

... With his powerful large scale formats, characterized by a dull/musty, nearly depressive, destructive style, expressed through earth and other raw materials.
Robert Raushenberg
(22 October 1925 - 12 May 2008)

... With his amazing, 'combines', characterized by non-traditional materials and objects, Raushenberg is able to express a form of chaotic order within methodical representations.
Antoni Tapies
(13 December, 1923 - )

... Amazing and inspiring, within his style, incorporating non artistic materials into the paintings, Tapies gives a sense of reality to his own work.
Jannis Kounellis
(23 March, 1936 - )

... Impressive with his installations of  'found objects', Kounellis encourage the exploration and the experimentation of materials into the paintings.
Giuseppe Penone
(3 April, 1947 - )

... Inspiring and influencial with his sculptures, installations and drawings, always distinguished by his radical choice of unconventional materials, Penone is able to establish a contact between man and nature through his work.
Francesca Woodman
(3 April, 1958 - 19 January, 1981)

... With her interesting, inspirational photographic style, Woodman is always capable to provoke strong reactions towards her surrealistic work.
